Neela is an AI Personal Assistant for Informal Family Caregivers. Neela’s promise is to take care of all the administrative tasks associated with caring for a Loved One so you can focus on what matters most to you. Her only goal is to give you time back in your day and make your life as a caregiver easier.
-
Informal Family Caregivers are often daughters and sons caring for their elderly parents, wives and husbands caring for their spouses, moms and dads caring for their children, and even friends caring for friends. Informal Family Caregivers can spend on average 26 hours per week caring for a loved one, and a huge chunk of that time is spent on administrative tasks like scheduling doctor appointments, centralizing medical records, keeping other family members informed, and so much more.
-
Neela is built to help you with administrative tasks. Right now, Neela can listen and take notes at doctor appointments, participate as a care advocate during appointments by answering questions for the family or the provider, help you collect and organize your Loved One’s medical record, analyze and understand your Loved One’s medical record, answer any questions about the health and progression of your Loved One based on the medical record, keep track of reminders and medications, and provide you with general guidance on what to do now and next when caring for a Loved One.
-
Neela will be able to help schedule doctor appointments, share medical information with the doctors and providers you choose, provide specific care plan guidance from doctors, help you order DME and other things you need during your journey, and even book you a massage and respite care so you can take a break.
-
You can access Neela through her app which will be available on iPhone and Android devices. There, you will be able to text Neela, talk to her on a call, and access all the information in your vault including documents you don’t even want to share with Neela. Neela will keep track of tasks and calendars as well in the app.
-
Yes! One person will serve as the primary administrator for Neela for the family. This person can then invite anyone else sharing in the caregiving journey. The administrator can even select the level of access for each person invited to join. Neela will then provide updates to each person based on their roles/access. This will be important as Neela coordinates efforts across multiple caregivers.
-
Yes! All information kept by Neela is secured in your own personal vault and accessible only by those you choose. You can even store information in your vault that Neela doesn’t have access to. All your data is encrypted and all your conversations with Neela are private. Recordings are deleted after being transcribed and summarized and you can delete anything from your vault (and Neela’s memory).

Neela is built by a dedicated team in Austin, Texas. We are/were caregivers ourselves and have experienced the journey and the difficulties. We believe this part of our lives should be a celebration and not a burden. So we built Neela to do the stuff we struggled to find time to do so we could spend more time celebrating. Our goal is just to help people take a measurable chunk off their plates and lift the burden of care as much as possible.

Neela will be free during the Early Access program. After this, Neela will have a subscription fee of about $20 per Loved One per month. You will be able to invite as many people as you want and everyone will be covered under the single subscription, no matter how many users. We do not sell data or access to data, we exist to serve those who need us most.

Nilla (pronounced “Neela”) was my wife’s grandmother, an Indonesian immigrant who was the matriarch of a massive, caring, giving, welcoming, and loving family. Nilla and her husband chose to live their final years, days, and hours at home where they were constantly surrounded by those who loved them.
I learned about the joy of celebrating life from Nilla. I learned about the honor and the privilege of caring for those who built so much of who we are from my family. I watched my mother-in-law and her siblings each spend months living with their parents during these years. I watched them struggle, argue, cry, laugh. And I never heard one complaint.
The family that welcomed me into their lives taught me about joy.
Nilla taught me about pride.
We have set off to fix one of the largest and most secretive problems our society has created and to help people experience the joy they deserve as they celebrate the lives of their loved ones.
And with my family’s support and encouragement, we have named her Neela.

We believe the opportunity to care for our loved ones in the final years of their life is a privilege and an honor. It should NOT be a burden. We should be allowed to focus on celebrating our relationships and not the stress of managing care for our family.
This is why we created Neela.
Neela is there for you, the family caregiver, as a personal assistant to manage all the stressful and burdensome tasks, to keep you and your family updated and organized, and to help you through what is sadly a difficult journey today.
